Goldstone is a type of synthetic glass, also known as “artificial sunstone” or “aventurine glass.” Although it resembles a natural gemstone, it is important to note that it is a man-made synthetic product.

Appearance: Shiny with metallic sparkles that resemble stars
Composition: Glass with inclusions of microscopic crystals of metallic copper (for red) or cobalt (for blue)

History and manufacturing: Goldstone was first created in Venice during the 17th century. It is manufactured by melting glass at high temperatures with metal salts and subjecting it to specific cooling conditions that allow the formation of the tiny metallic crystals that give it its characteristic luster.

The sparkling effect is produced by the reflection of light off the tiny metallic crystals suspended in the glass matrix, creating an effect similar to the natural aventurine found in some gemstones.

Although synthetic, Goldstone is frequently used in costume jewelry and ornamentation due to its attractive visual appearance.
